What is a low/medium web site?

Answer: The idea is to offer smallish web sites to help groups get active and off the ground. How many resources are actually allocated depend on your plans. Let's just say that if you grow up to routinely needing more than a few GB of bandwidth per month, you'll then be outgrowing what we intend. But don't worry -- you'll know it long before you hit that amount.

Is this just a gimmick to sell something?

Answer: Nope, it's just what we said -- an effort to help the broader political left. We want to help start seedlings -- lots of them. If you grow too much and your site gets huge and uses too many resources, we may ask that you shift to a commercial server, either one of our own or anyone else that you choose. But we don't want your money -- we want you to be activists and organizers.

How secure is this service you're offering?

Answer: We know what we're doing and our servers are tight -- though not bulletproof, certainly above average for the Internet hosting industry.

If you are looking at more thorough security, say, something like encrypting all traffic to/from the server, then we are not offering that as a free service (that takes more resources).

Where will my site(s) actually be located?

Answer: That could vary. We have servers located both in the US and in Europe and will put your site at a location of our choosing.

But don't worry -- no matter where the physical server is, when you click on a link your page will come up just as if it was located in the next county.

What rules are there for using your service?

Answer: You have to be 18 or older. Also see our general Internet hosting terms of service/acceptable use agreement and just ignore the parts about money or payments.

What privacy guarantees do you give?

Answer: Guarantees for a free service?! None.

Here's the deal: we respect your privacy and the privacy of the people you deal with. We will not release any information to anyone without a court order. Since our servers are optimized for performance, we do not keep long-term logs of activity. But with all that said, do not think that the Internet is a private realm -- it is not.

What other guarantees do you give?

Answer: We guarantee that if you cause us headaches that we will terminate your account.

Seriously, you're getting a valuable service for free; there are no guarantees of any kind.
